The room, shared bathroom and kitchen were amazingly clean even though there a lot of people coming in and out, indicating that it is properly maintained. We got a big room and very comfortable bed, also big clear window. We were not opted to have breakfast at the house, but brought our own from Kronan shop nearby and had our meal at the communal kitchen. In addition to our comfortable stay, we are lucky to witness the aurora early at 7pm just outside our room.

The room was a good size the bathrooms are shared we had two just across the hallway, there is a small kitchen that you can use with a kettle and instant coffee, there is a modern extension at the rear where you can sit in the evening and it's where you have breakfast, nice breakfast good bread and you can cook your own waffles, they make the mix and you are the chef 🙂

As advertised on the web site, it was rather small with limited storage for clothes and it had a shared bathroom, but everything in the room was bright and clean, the furniture was in good shape, the bed was comfortable and there were plenty of electrical outlets. The window had blackout curtains which would be especially important in mid-summer. The bathrooms on my floor (of which there were several) were also clean and readily available. There was a communal kitchen adjacent to my room and guests respected the 10 pm quiet time so there was no noise coming from the kitchen by the time I was ready for bed. The breakfast buffet had a nice selection but waffles were the only hot item available. Also, if you want to have breakfast, be sure to let the staff know the night before, especially during the off-season. The host was friendly and recommended several restaurants in the area for dinner.

I hadn't booked my stay to include breakfast initially, but on the day of check-in I got an offer to book breakfast for 1900 ISK, so I did. The breakfast was served in the glass patio, which had a beautiful view of Vik and the black sand beach and the breakfast was really good. I loved the homemade Icelandic rye bread, it tasted like gingerbread cake!
If I ever go back to Vik, I will definitely try to book a room at Guesthouse Carina again.

As for the place it self I only have good things to say. Very clean rooms, awesome bathrooms and one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. Not only for the food but also for the amazing view over the village of Vik at sunrise. Simply amazing.
I'm more than comfortable recommending this place to anyone that visits the South of Iceland.
