Welcome to Guesthouse Carina

Take a look at this video from Vik i Myrdal

Despite its small size (291 inhabitants as of January 2011) it is the largest settlement for some 70 km (43 mi) around and is an important staging post, thus it is indicated on road signs from a long distance away. It is an important service center for the inhabitants and visitors to the coastal strip between Skógar and the west edge of the Mýrdalssandur glacial outwash plain.

“Lovely guesthouse in a lovely city”

Our stay in Vik couldn't have been better. We found the staff to be very helpful and polite, and our room was great (top floor on the right). There's a wonderful view from the balcony. Breakfast was delicious, and all restaurants are within walking distance. We will return!

“A Gem in a Gem”

Appreciated the comfy beds and great breakfast. Stayed for 3 nights. A gem of a guesthouse in a gem of a little settlement. Good base for us to explore the South including the intriguing, wild Reynisfjara & Dyrhólaey, & the East all the way up to Jokursalon Lagoon. With 10 rooms & up to 24 guests, we wondered about the availability of shared bathrooms. Turned out there was little waiting time. The guesthouse is clean - helped largely by the practice of leaving all shoes at the main door. Good spread breakfast. Including some homebaked breads. Waffle-making too :) Helpful staff - shared where to find food in little Vik. Will definitely recommend Guesthouse Carina to friends & fellow travellers !
